Moringa an aphrodisiac plant.

Sexual desire or the lack of it, often called a decrease in libido, often referred to scientifically as “Anaphrodisias”.

What we mean is the partial or even the total loss of a person's sexual desire whether it is a man or woman.

Some people call this a disease but actually it is a disorder or it possibly is a psychophysical condition that can occur in men and in women and normally has a negative or sometimes even a relationship hurting effect.

The causes of this minimal libido are usually either

  • few cases it is of a physical nature
  • mostly it is of a psychological nature

In all of the above, anxiety and frustration can take over the general psychophysical scales, and then it follows often to real sexual disorders.

The effect of the reduction of sexual desire can also be from physical or mental fatigue. Another common cause of this is the stress of everyday life. Concerns from problems at work, threats to stability and these particular concerns should not be underestimated.

Often there are behaviors that couples can do like creating environments that can lead to increased libido, such as creating nice or inviting atmospheres to rediscover intimacy and spend pleasant and relaxing moments together listening to music, but read on and you can see that moringa can help with sex life, enhance sexual performance and even increase sperm production.

Moringa oleifera helps many things including the immune system of both men and women. Especially with vitamin c and overall health.

Does Moringa Help Sexually?

There have been a number of research studies - on the benefits for men and sexual benefits.

What does moringa or ben oil help with

Is it good for Erectile Dysfunction?

May help erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined as the inability to get or  to keep an erection that’s firm enough for sex. This is often a result of a blood flow problem.

Moringa helps because it contains plant compounds called polyphenols, which are reported to enhance blood flow by increasing nitric oxide production and also decreasing blood pressure.

Another report also demonstrated that moringa seed extract helped to relax a muscle in the penis of healthy rats.  This then allowed for more blood flow to the area. [Ref].

I have been unable to find a similar study on humans - so there is no direct evidence that it will function the same way.

moringa health benefit men

Fertility Improvement:

Men with sperm mobility is amongst  the most common causes [Ref] of infertility.

Thankfully Moringa leaves and seeds are known as excellent sources of antioxidants.

Antioxidants are known to  help fight oxidative damage to cells. If you can prevent oxidative damage to cells that will help with the sperm cells also.

Rabbits are known for their sexually active life - hence the saying “ breeds like rabbits” - Studies in rabbits have indicated that leaf powder from the ben or moringa tree significantly improved semen volume and sperm count.[Ref].

In addition research in rats have further shown that the antioxidant properties of moringa leaf extract significantly increased sperm count.[Ref].

However, as encouraging as these studies are studies in humans are necessary before conclusions can be drawn on the effectiveness of moringa for healing sexual health in males.

Moringa leaves and seeds have a high concentration of  antioxidants These have been shown to neutralize sperm-damaging oxidative stress in other mammals. Studies in humans are necessary to confirm these findings.

Improve blood sugar control:

When your body doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t efficiently use it then you may suffer from Type 2 diabetes.

Insulin is a hormone produced by your pancreas that lowers blood sugar levels after eating.

Again working with mice and rats with diabetes it has been shown that extracts from moringa leaves and seeds may lower blood sugar levels increasing insulin production and/or the uptake of sugar into cells [Ref].

The good thing here is one study in a small number of healthy adults demonstrated that taking 4 grams of moringa leaf powder increased insulin secretion. It did not significantly show any affect blood sugar levels [Ref].

Researchers in another study also found that the moringa supplement reduced the post-eating blood sugar increase in those with diabetes. [Ref].

This blood control then relates back increased health and blood wellbeing and sexual drive.

moringa benefits

Support prostate health:

Moringa seeds and leaves are rich in sulfur-containing compounds called glucosinolates, which may have anticancer properties [Ref].

Studies done in the laboratory have demonstrated that the glucosinolates from the plant’s seeds may inhibit the growth of human prostate cancer cells [Ref].

It’s also possible  that moringa could help prevent benign enlargement of the prostate in men as they get older.  This can make it difficult to urinate[Ref].

Support Healthy Testosterone Levels:

Another study also reported that moringa decreased testosterone levels in the treated mice.  In humans, low testosterone levels can reduce sex drive and erectile function, [Ref].

Again more studies would be necessary to establish this in humans. But the moringa leaves and seeds are certainly rich in glucosinolates.  These in turn are why the plant has  beneficial effects on prostate health in rodents.

Moringa health benefits are certainly documented well - overall health and even the basics like high levels of vitamin c the moringa tree can certainly benefit men.

Moringa and Sperm Production:

Can moringa help with sperm production - yes it can and below we reference a study that shows sperm was increased.

A study of Bulls. Moringa oleifera leaf contains high levels of nutrition that can be utilized as a feed supplement to increase libido and semen quality. [Ref

This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of Moringa supplementation on libido and sperm quality of Bali bulls. This study used two-sample t-test on four Bali bulls kept under individual pens for two periods of eight weeks. During the first period (control), the experimental Bali bulls were fed concentrates (1% of body weight) and rice straw. During the second period, the experimental Bali bulls were fed similar to the first period with an additional of Moringa leaves 15% of the weight of the concentrate (treatments). Libido and sperm quality were measured twice a week.

Moringa increased testosterone and increased libido. Plus it also helped the progressive motility of sperm. Moringa also increased the velocity of sperm. It can be concluded that the supplementation of Moringa leaves could increase plasma testosterone concentrations, libido, and sperm motility of Bali bulls.

Of course this is different that in humans - and a study would need to be done - but it does fit the general theme that Moringa helps with sexual problems - and actually it can help with both women and men.

Can Moringa increase sperm count?

Studies in rats have further demonstrated that the antioxidant properties of moringa leaf extract significantly increased sperm count

How do I take Moringa for Sexual Benefits

What can I mix moringa powder with?

Using moringa couldn't be simpler - just mix 1-2 teaspoons (or half a teaspoon if you're just starting out) into any dish or drink that could benefit from a sprinkling of spinach type greens. The easiest way is to think of it as a superfood seasoning - so just use it as you would any other green herb or seasoning.

Conclusion

While research shows some real benefits for moringa the next step is for researchers to see if the same sexual health benefits could occur in humans.
