What Is Moringa Tea?
Moringa Tea is made from the leaves of the Moringa oleifera plant. The moringa tree has several folk lore names including "the miracle tree" and if you read about the benefits here you will understand why.
Other names are the "drumstick tree" because of the shape of its seed pods. In the past it has also been called the "ben oil tree" because it has been used to produce benzoil.

The moringa tree is native to tropical areas in India where it seems to have originated from but it is common throughout Southeast Asia. The largest gower and user of moringa is India. The Oleifera plant is also grown in the Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal, Taiwan and central America.

From the USDA, moringa tea leaves have a high amount and a variety of vitamins and minerals, including a significant supply of vitamin A, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), and vitamin B6. The leaf of the moringa tree also contains significant quantities of essential nutrients such as beta-carotene and amino acids. One hundred grams of moringa leaves also contain a protein content of around 9 grams (1).
How To Make Moringa Tea
Moringa Leaf Tea Ingredients:
- 12 ounces of water
- 1-2 teaspoon moringa tea leaves according to taste
Moringa Tea Method:
1. Boil your water in an electric kettle or on the stove top
2. Place the tea leaves in a single serve teapot or a tea ball or tea infuser and place in the hot water.
3. Let the tea infusion steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
4. You can add some additives like honey, coconut or sugar cane syrup to slightly adjust to your own personal tea blend.
Moringa Flavor Profile
Moringa leaf tea has an earthy flavor similar to that of green tea. However, It is less bitter than most green tea varieties. What I find help also when I was experimenting with my moringa leaf tea method was I found that it can tolerate high temperatures and longer brewing times.
You can also add mint, and or cinnamon to soften out the earthy taste if you prefer.
