How Did Ashley Graham Lose Weight?
If you saw her photos in her social media accounts, Ashley Graham, a plus-size model had lost weight because of how dedicated she is in doing kickboxing for her fitness exercises in the gym for five days a week.
In an interview with Health in 2016, she revealed that her approach in working out is a trial and error to see if what works best for her body. "I've tried many different classes where I thought 'I don't know if I can do that again,' but now I love things I never imagined I would, like boxing," she said in the interview.
To keep her disciplined in working out, she made sure that she does it with her trainers in The Dogpound in New York City. The gym’s co-founder, Dawin Peña, revealed Graham’s workout routine.
Her kickboxing involves a combination of squats, burpees, side lunges, and lunges, with medicine balls, large tires, and hammers achieving between 15 to 35 reps per exercise. This is quite intense so this is not recommended for the faint-hearted.
Not only that, but she also did high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, which is a mix of jumping squats, lunges, burpees, ball smash, scissor legs, and jackknife, and strength training like sledgehammer swings, planks, push-ups, barbell squats, resistance band hip thrusts, and double band sumo deadlifts.
She also did a 5k marathon for her cardio exercise to additionally burn calories and improves the flexibility of muscles and bones.
In an interview with Women’s Health Magazine back in 2017, Peña said how Ashley Graham is dedicated and committed to her weight loss journey. “Ashley is a busy woman but that doesn't mean she can't get in a great workout in a short amount of time. Generally, we do weights with a high rep count and some calisthenics in between to get her heart rate up."
If you are her avid follower, you’ll see that her workout routine is not just simply complying with all the movements that her trainers are expecting, she also does aerial yoga, other acrobatic activities, and her childhood hobby which is rollerblading.
In her 2019 post on Instagram, the supermodel shared how much she loves rollerblading with her mom. She posted, “My mom and I would sometimes rollerblade 20 miles on the bike path behind my house where I grew up. Definitely my happy place!" With a hashtag, #bladeislife.
Wouldn’t it be fun if you add your favorite childhood game into your fitness routine to lessen the burden and make it more fun?

She showed how to shut off trolls who body-shamed her in her workout videos and even doubted her not to get any slimmer. However, the celebrity proved them wrong and didn’t miss the chance to answer back with a response, “Just for the record I work out to stay healthy, feel good, get rid of jet lag, clear my head, show big girls we can move like the rest of 'em, stay flexible and strong, gave more energy. I don't work out to lose weight or my curves, I love the skin I'm in.”
It is a fact that physical exercise brings a great advantage to our mental health. As for Ashley Graham, she admitted that the greatest reward she had while doing her workout routine for losing weight is getting rid of any anxiety, irritations, and a clearer mind. She strongly believes that a healthy body can be at any size as long as you are physically active and keep moving.
